Worker hospitalised after suffering groin injury at Village Roadshow Studios

UPDATE @ 9.55am: A WORKER has suffered a “penetrative injury” to the groin area following an accident with a power tool at a construction site at Oxenford this morning.

Around 8.10am, emergency crews rushed to the site at Village Roadshow Studios, following reports a person had been seriously injured.

Queensland Ambulance Operations Supervisor, Paul Young said the 42-year-old construction contractor had accidentally impaled himself in the groin with a hammer drill.


He was treated at the scene by the intensive care paramedic before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Village Roadshow Studios has since released a brief statement confirming the accident.

“A construction contractor has been injured while working on-site at Village Roadshow Studios.

“Emergency services provided assistance and the contractor has been transported to hospital in a stable condition.

“The safety of our guests, team and contractors is our primary concern and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

EARLIER @ 9.10am: EMERGENCY crews have rushed to a workplace accident on the Gold Coast this morning.

The incident is understood to have occurred at a construction site at Oxenford around 8.00am.

Queensland Ambulance confirmed one person was being treated at the scene by the high acuity response unit.

Their condition and injuries are not yet known.

Two Queensland Fire and Rescue trucks are also on scene.

There are no further details available at this time.
