Emergency services rush to Gold Coast home struck by lightning

A home on the northern Gold Coast has luckily escaped serious damage, after it was struck by lightning in last night’s wild weather.

Emergency services were called to Hanover Drive in Pimpama around 8.00pm, following reports a small fire had broken out as a result of the strike.

Two fire crews attended, however on arrival there were no signs of smoke or fire.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services report that there was a small hole in the roof of the house, but it was easily fixed with a small bit of tarp.

Paramedics were also called to the scene, but luckily no one was hurt in the incident.

Fire fighters made the scene safe before leaving at around 8.30pm.
