Man to appear in court following Ipswich siege
UPDATE: A man has been charged and is due to appear in court today following a siege west of Brisbane.
About 12.30pm yesterday, police were called to a home at Karalee , Ispwich where it is alleged a man threatened a woman with a firearm before she was able to flee the premises.
Specialist police attended the scene and at 2.56pm declared an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act after the man allegedly barricaded himself inside the house.
The man was taken into custody without incident a short time later.

The 28-year-old Hillcrest man has been charged with one count of possess shortened firearm.
He will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
EARLIER: Police have declared an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act at an address in Karalee, Ipswich.
Emergency services were called to an address on Elanora Way following reports of an altercation.
Police declared the emergency situation at 2.56pm after establishing that a man, who is believed to be armed, had barricaded himself inside a house.

An exclusion zone has been established which encompasses Elanora Way between First Ave and Bendemeer Street and south to the Bremer River.
There is no further information available at this time.
