Emergency situation revoked after fuel tanker rolls on Qld highway

UPDATE @ 11.50am: An emergency situation declared after a fuel tanker rolled near Childer’s overnight has now been revoked.

At 8.50pm, a B-Double fuel tanker travelling on the Bruce Highway in the vicinity of Gelsominos Road crashed, spilling 20,000 litres of fuel.

The declaration was revoked this morning, however the Bruce Highway remains closed in both directions.

Diversions are currently in place via Biggenden.

EARLIER @ 8.30am: An emergency situation has been declared on the Bruce Highway after a fuel tanker rolled, spilling 20,000 litres of fuel.

The accident happened near Childers at about 8.50pm overnight.

Emergency crews remain at the scene this morning with a major clean-up operation still underway.

Two lanes of the highway are closed with diversions in place.

The driver of the vehicle was treated for minor injuries.
