‘Emergency situation’: Man holding police at bay north of Brisbane

AN emergency situation has been declared in Bray Park, north of Brisbane, where police are locked in a tense stand-off with an agitated man.

Police were called to the Sparkes Road home just after 10.30am after receiving reports of a man making threats at the address.

When officers arrived, the man allegedly barricaded himself inside the home where he remains this afternoon, refusing to surrender.

Police declared an emergency situation around 1.30pm and an exclusion zone has been established around the home.

Police believe the man is the only person inside the home.

Negotiators are on the scene, attempting to coax the man out of the building.

The exclusion zone encompasses Outlook Parade to the intersection of Alcira Street and Outlook Parade, to the intersection of Alcira Street and Sparkes Road, to the border of the rear oval of Bray Park State School, along the school border to Sandra Cook, left onto Princess and Gerard Street, left into Gerard to the roundabout and back to Sparkes Road.
