English competitor joins in Sun Yang protest at World Championships

More drama at the World Swimming Championships, with a British competitor following Mack Horton in a protest against China’s Sun Yang.

The Chinese swimming star is facing an appeal after escaping sanctions for smashing a doping sample with a hammer.

Mack Horton had refused to stand next to Yang on the podium, or even shake his hand, protesting his participation in the event.

In another medal ceremony overnight, Britain’s Duncan Scott did the same thing, prompting a heated response.

Yang unleashed on him poolside telling Scott ‘you’re a loser and I’m winning’.

It’s understood both athletes will be sent warning letters by FINA.
