Enjoy a week of New Year fun in Surfers Paradise

Surfers Paradise is counting down to the Gold Coast biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations with a special carnival along the foreshore.

The New Year’s Carnival will kick off on Sunday 27 December until Friday 1 January and will be a celebration of new beginnings featuring rides, kids’ slides and fun activities for all ages.

On New Year’s Eve, children are encouraged to don capes and costumes to come dressed as their favourite superhero for the first of two magnificent fireworks displays, lighting up the skies over Surfers Paradise Beach at the family-friendly time of 8pm. A second show will be held for revellers at midnight.

The beach fireworks displays are ranked among the most spectacular in the state, incorporating state-of-the-art pyrotechnics launched from a floating barge approximately 350 metres out to sea.

And for those who just can’t get enough of the rainbow explosion in the skies, Howl at the Moon and Cocoon will host another fireworks show for spectators along the river, bursting to life at 10pm at the end of Cavill Avenue.

The event is expected to draw more than 60,000 people to ring in 2016 at the precinct, which is internationally regarded as a hub of entertainment and family-friendly attractions.
