‘Erratic’ B-double truckie caught drink-driving on busy highway

A b-double truck driver has been busted driving almost three times the legal alcohol limit after he was spotted driving erratically on the Hume Freeway overnight.

In a statement, police said they received a number of reports from concerned motorists who had observed the truck driving erratically in the northbound lanes of the freeway about 6.50pm.

“Police attempted to intercept the driver and after about five kilometres, the driver stopped,” the statement reads.

The 64-year-old driver from New South Wales returned a breath test reading of 0.139 per cent.

He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving offences.

Sgt Geoff Shaw from Seymour police thanked motorists for reporting the truck.

“We appreciate motorists taking the time to report the incident and thereby ensuring their own safety and the safety of other motorists.”
