A unique surf competition showcasing amateur surfers and emerging pros will be staged at Duranbah early in the new year.
The inaugural Usher Cup, hosted by Snapper Rocks Surfriders Club, is set to run Friday January 29 through to Sunday January 31, 2021, and will feature 21 board riders’ clubs stretching from Coffs Harbour to Noosa.
Usher Love, the charitable arm of Gold Coast-based Usher Group, has partnered with Aussie surf legend Wayne ‘Rabbit’ Bartholomew for the event.

Amateur surfers will be given exposure to take their skills to the next level, whether that be within their club, or the next step to the professional ranks.
Equal prize money will be offered for male and female competitors, and competing board riding clubs will be awarded a prize based on the top club male and female competitor scores.
Contest Director, ‘Rabbit’ Bartholomew said he was looking forward to the event.
“The Usher Cup has evolved from a seeded thought to a grass roots hybrid club/individual event with a dynamic community-based and charity focus,” he said.
“I am super stoked to be associated with the Usher Cup, it’s going to be a blast.”
Usher Group Managing Director, Theodore Vairaktaris said, “I am overwhelmed from the support of the construction industry towards Usher’s initiatives.”
The event has so far attracted $150,000 in sponsorship, supporting grass roots clubs and Usher Love charities including The Perry Cross Foundation, Youth Insearch, Camp Quality and Starlight Foundation.
