Explosion leads police to drug lab bust

Police have charged a man after uncovering a drug lab while responding to reports of an explosion in a town north-west of Sydney.

Police arrived at the Kurrajong address around 7pm on Tuesday and found a detached garage and a van with substantial fire damage.

They entered the garage to check for occupants and allegedly located the drug laboratory.

State Crime Command Chemical Operations Unit, Fire & Rescue and Hazmat personnel set up a crime scene and began investigations.

About 3pm, the same day, a 48-year-old man arrived at the scene and was arrested.

He was taken to Windsor Police Station and charged with manufacture prohibited drug.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.
