Gold Coasters are being urged to use public transport to get to the many New Year’s Eve events happening across the city tonight.
And why wouldn’t you – because it’s FREE!
Extra tram, train and bus services are being put on as thousands of people flock to see fireworks displays.

Huge crowds are expected at the big displays in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.
A number of roads will be closed in Surfers Paradise between 6pm and 4am including The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise Bouelvard, Beach Rd and Trickett St.
For those catching a bus, services will run to normal weekday timetables with extra services to run through the night.
It’s a similar story on the trains with extra services at night to try and get people home.
Trams will run every 7.5 minutes from 7pm tonight until 2am when they will revert back to every 15 minutes until 7am.
After that trams will run to a normal weekday timetable tomorrow.
Travel will be free from 7.45pm tonight until 5.30am tomorrow with the exception of the Airtrain.
Translink is urging everyone to plan their journey and check for service disruptions.
