“Extremely violent attack” Qld woman charged with murder after man stabbed to death

There’s been horror on a suburban Brisbane street overnight after a man was allegedly stabbed to death by his estranged partner.

The 51-year-old man returned to his home on Ward Street at Newmarket around 7.00pm where the woman was allegedly waiting.

Police say it was there that the woman, aged 53, stabbed the man multiple times.

Despite desperate attempts by neighbours and emergency crews, the man could not be saved and was declared deceased at the scene.

“It appeared to be an extremely violent and unpredictable attack,” Police told reporters at the scene.

It’s believed the man’s 10-year-old son was in the car at the time and witnessed the alleged attack unfold.

The woman, from Kangaroo Point, has been charged with one count of murder, two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of going armed so as to cause fear.

She is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
