Fairfax reporters on strike

FAIRFAX journalists, photographers and production staff are set to go on strike following the latest round of full-time job cuts.

It’s understood staff at The Age, Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian Financial Review have gone on strike for the next 24 hours after the company announced up to another 80 positions would be axed across newsrooms in Sydney and Melbourne.

One hundred and sixty staff reportedly met at a stop work meeting on Wednesday to vote on whether or not to strike, with 159 voting to walk.
