Fake gun sparks fear during Surfers robbery

A 23-year-old man from Redbank Plains has been charged after he pulled a gun on a woman and took off with her bag in Surfers Paradise.

It’s alleged around 12.50 on Saturday morning, a man approached a woman walking along Garfield Terrace in Surfers, asking to use her phone.

When the woman obliged, the man used the phone and walked away before approaching her for a second time.

This time, the man pulled what the woman believed to be a gun on her, making threats as he asked for her to hand over her bag.

He then took off along Northcliffe Terrace.

At 2.10am, Police came across three people, one of which matched the description of the man who had pulled the gun on the woman.

Police found a fake gun along with the woman’s property with the man.

The man has been charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of posession of a knife.
