Fake police car catches officers attention on the Gold Coast

A FAKE police car found by real officers of the law on the Gold Coast was not impersonating police.

The vehicle – almost identical to that of an older model patrol car – was allegedly located broken down on Gooding Drive, Robina over the weekend.

After a more thorough investigation, police told myGC the vehicle was in fact a stunt car, purchased by someone in the movie industry who was having it transported at the time.

The patrol car pictured (source Channel Nine) was fitted with emergency flashing lights, wrapped in police signage and had a barricade installed inside the car – similar to the real deal.

It was allegedly used as a prop in Channel Nine’s drama television series, Underbelly.

The car was not used in any criminal offences.
