Missing German backpacker found ‘safe and well’

UPDATE @ 2.15 PM | A young German backpacker missing from Byron Bay has been found.

Police confirmed the 20-year-old woman was located ‘safe and well’ a short time ago.

EARLIER @ 10.00 AM| The family of a German backpacker has asked for help in locating their daughter, who has gone missing from the Byron Bay area.

The 20-year-old was last seen on Friday 1 June at a school on Carlyle Street.

She was reported missing to officers from Tweed/Byron Police District on Thursday, after failing to show up for work on Monday.

Police and her family in Germany have serious concerns for her welfare as her disappearance is considered out of character.

Anyone who sees the young woman, or knows her whereabouts, is urged to contact police immediately.
