Fan frenzy as State of Origin I tickets sell out in just minutes

Tickets to what seems to be the hottest event in town have sold out in just a matter of minutes.

Rugby League fans pounced on Wednesday as the first release of tickets to the historic State of Origin opener in Townsville officially went on sale.

General admission seats went on sale at exactly 3.00pm, with the allocation reportedly exhausted by 3.02pm.

It comes after die-hard North Queensland Cowboys members were given priority access earlier this morning, with those tickets selling out in less than 30 seconds.

The NRL confirmed the sell-out in a post on Twitter a short time ago.

“The first release of Origin 1 tickets are now exhausted!” they wrote.

It’s understood another 1,800 tickets will be up for grabs early next week, with additional seating being trucked up from the Gold Coast.

“Additional grandstand seating will available in the coming days,” the NRL wrote.

Yep lets look after the locals!
Most of the tickets went to clubs, corporate businesses and state government officials.
Lucky if their were 3000 seats for the general public.
