MICK Fanning has showed no signs of fear while returning to competitive surfing at the Billabong Pro in Tahiti.
The Tweed Heads local is back on tour for the first time since a close-call with a great white shark during the final at South Africa’s J-Bay last month.
Fanning won his round one heat in difficult conditions at the famous Teahupo’o break, beating fellow Australian Adam Melling and Taumata Puhetini.

“It was really tough out there, there weren’t too many opportunities,” Fanning said.
“It was great to get back in the singlet and focus on the surfing again.”
