TWO months after a shocking shark attack during the live broadcast of the WSL tour stop in South Africa, Mick Fanning has won the Hurley Pro in California.
The local surfer beat Brazillian Adriano de Souza by just one point (17.44 to 16.44) to claim the event at Lower Trestles and shoot to the top of the world surfing tour standings, replacing de Souza.
Fanning’s near-miss with a Great White made national headlines back in July, when he managed to fight off the shark during the final against fellow Australian Julian Wilson at the J-Bay Open.
