A MAN has died in a serious, single vehicle traffic crash in the Gold Coast hinterland this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the notorious stretch of Maudsland Road at Mount Nathan around 12.35pm.

Initial information indicates the white utility was travelling down the mountain when it left the road and slammed head-on into a tree after failing to navigate a bend.
An ambulance spokesperson said one person, believed to a man in his 40s, had been killed in the collision.
The section of road between Beaudesert-Nerang Road and Guanaba Creek Road was closed to all traffic as investigations were carried out and the scene was cleared.
Police have told reporters it is the second time in eight months a person has died after hitting the same tree.
