Fatal truck and car crash blocks off NSW highway

POLICE have been forced to shut down the Sturt Highway at Narrandera after a driver was killed in a horror collision on Friday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene around 7.30am following reports of a crash between a truck and a car about 16km west of Narrandera.

It’s understood the driver of the car died at the scene.

The Sturt Highway is currently closed in both directions while emergency services deal with the incident.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted at Kidman Way in Darling Point and can travel via Whitton-Darlington Road to Whitton then Benerembah Street, Binyah Street, Whitton Road and Canal Street to Leeton, Binya Street to Yanko, then Irrigation Way and the Newell Highway to Narrandera to re-join the Sturt Highway.

The westbound diversion is the same in reverse.
