Father left toddler to die in hot car so he could live ‘child free’

IN a horrifying turn of events, it has been revealed that a man purposely ‘forgot to drop his toddler at childcare’ leaving him to die in the back of a hot car.

Justin Ross Harris, 34, was charged with murder after he left two-year-old son Cooper in a car for seven hours on June 18, 2014, a day when temperatures in the Atlanta area reached 33 degrees Celsius.

Harris told police that he forgot to drop his son off at daycare on his way to work and discovered the child after he left the office that afternoon.

However it was later revealed that Harris, a self confessed sex addict, sent a text message to a lover saying: “I love my son and all but we both need escapes” just hours before the toddler was found dead.

A court heard that in the same message, Harris also said he missed “having time to myself and going out with my friends”.

Prosecutors said the message to a woman and other online chats established motive in the murder case.

The judge set a trial date for February 22.
