A father has told a court of the terrifying day his wife tried to kill their two young daughters.
The 45-year-old mother allegedly tried to gas the two girls, aged five and six, using the stove in the kitchen of their Adelaide home.
The children were eventually found crying hysterically in the home by a family friend while the mother had passed out on the couch, the Adelaide Advertiser reports.

Prosecutor Hilda Kinuthia told the court it was unlikely could have died by being exposed but the gas, although it would be possible if they were exposed for more than 28 hours.
In the father’s victim impact statement, which was read to the court, he said: “I am angry, embarrassed and ashamed that the mother of my children could do this to them.”
The mother has pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder and will be sentenced later this month.
