Fears of bikie rise on the Gold Coast

There are concerns bikies are quietly on the rise again across the Gold Coast, after an arrest yesterday afternoon and an alarming new report.

A motorcyclist was pulled over as part of traffic operations yesterday, with the rider – a member of the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang – being unlicensed.

The rider also tested positive to a roadside drug test, and the motorcycle was seized and impounded for 90 days.

It comes amid a fresh police report outlining concerns a New Zealand gang has begun beefing up their presence in the Gold Coast’s northern suburbs.

Newscorp reports ‘the Mongrel Mob’, as well as the Hells Angels, are going to great lengths to hide their ongoing activity, and are attempting to branch out from their Logan hub.

Police will continue investigation potential consorting offences within the state.

Organised Crime Gangs Group Commander, Detective Superintendent Roger Lowe said the Queensland Police Service is committed to disrupting crime gangs.

“This should be a warning to all criminal gangs, that the QPS is focused on disrupting their activities.

“We will continue to work with other law enforcement jurisdictions to ensure we achieve this,” Detective Superintendent Lowe said.
