Investigations are underway after an attempted hacking of the Australian Tax Office’s early superannuation access scheme.
The ATO reportedly found that a small number of people had their personal details unlawfully used, in an effort to defraud the program.
It’s understood some people have been receiving texts saying their claim has been approved, despite never trying to make a claim in the first place.

Federal police are now investigating, though the ATO has assured that its online systems have not been compromised.
It says measures are being put in place to secure people’s personal information, and that impacted individuals are being contacted.
It’s understood over a million Australians are accessing their superannuation early, with people able to take up to $10,000 this financial year and next financial year.
