A small, professional development soccer coaching academy has won the first round of the Coastal Dental Care Smiles All Round Sports Club Grants.
The Fighting For My Dreams Academy run by Head Coach Cristobal Soto scored $2500 after securing the highest number of votes during September on the myGC.com.au website.
Mr Soto, who is an ex-professional Chilean player, said he was thrilled to hear the academy had been lucky enough to win the cash.

“The grant will be used to purchase well needed equipment to replace most of our current stock. Balls, goals, nets, poles and all things football including more uniforms,” he told myGC.
“I wish to dearly thank Coastal Dental Care for their thoughtful generous sponsorship and how much all the kids surrounded by our programs will be greatly benefited. Your support is greatly appreciated by all of us at Fighting for my Dreams.”
Mr Soto said he created the academy after an injury stopped him from playing soccer.
“My dream was to take my experience and passion to teach through ‘Fighting for my Dreams’ for players to excel their soccer abilities,” he said.
“The support we’ve had from the community, parents, friends and families over the years has been amazing.”
