‘Fill up now’: warning to motorists as petrol hits new high

Motorists are being urged to fill up the tank as soon as possible with petrol prices soaring to new highs.

Low supply and high demand have sent world oil prices soaring which has now filtered down to browsers.

Major petrol retailers on the Gold Coast have already started selling unleaded for a whopping 183.9 cents a litre.

But dozens of independent and smaller operators are yet to hike up their prices with unleaded still available for less than 150 cents a litre.

According to the RACQ, a fair price for fuel on the Gold Coast today is 149.7 cents a litre.

Motorists who need to fill up their tanks with premium unleaded are in for an even bigger shock with prices soaring above $2 a litre.

Some major retailers are selling premium unleaded for as much as 206.9 cents a litre.

Motorists who use diesel have been spared a massive increase so far with the highest price so far around 163 cents a litre.

The RACQ says a fair price for diesel today is 156.8 cents a litre.
