AFTER months of waiting in anticipation, retail giant Amazon has finally launched in Australia – just in time for Christmas.
The brand-spanking new website sneakily went live overnight with millions of products across more than 20 different categories including Books, Music, Clothing & Accessories, Electronics, Kitchen and Baby.
The company is offering free delivery on orders over $49 with a one-day delivery service also available in a number of areas across Australia.

A number of well-known Australian brands including Bonds, Puma, Lego, L’Oreal and Sonos have already started selling on the Amazon Marketplace.
Some of the specials available on the website at launch included up to 30% off on select kids toys and board games, 30% off Calvin Klein men’s and women’s underwear, up to 20% off Sunbeam kitchen appliances and 30% off Tommy Hilfiger men’s and women’s polos.
Country Manager of Amazon Australia, Rocco Braeuniger said Amazon plans to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in Australia and hope’s to earn the trust of its Aussie customers.
“Focusing on customers and the long-term are key principles in Amazon’s approach to retailing,” Mr Braeuniger said.
“By concentrating on providing a great shopping experience and by constantly innovating on behalf of customers, we hope to earn the trust and the custom of Australian shoppers in the years to come.”
Mr Braeuniger said Amazon will continue to improve the experience for customers by the “regular introduction of new products and services that people love.”
