UPDATE – One person hospitalised after stall fire at Carrara Markets

Update @4.15pm | One person has been taken to hospital for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at Carrara Markets this afternoon.

Two stalls have been damaged by the blaze, which broke out just after 3.00pm.

One fire fighter crew remains on scene at the moment, though the fire has been put out.


One person – of unknown age and gender – has been transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Fires are unable to confirm the cause of the blaze.

Earlier @3.30pm | Emergency crews have rushed to a fire that broke out at Carrara Markets this afternoon.

It’s understood a small blaze broke out in one of the stalls just after 3.00pm, before spreading to another.

Four fire fighting crews are in attendance, and had to break into one of the stalls to start putting out the flames.

Paramedics and police are also at the scene.

No injuries have been reported yet.
