Northern Gold Coast boatyard fire deemed suspicious, police confirm

UPDATE @ 11.10 AM | A large fire which caused extensive damage at a boatyard in Stapylton this morning may have been deliberately lit, police say.

Around 1.15am, emergency crews rushed to a boatyard on Stapylton Jacobs Well Road after receiving reports of a blaze.

Queensland fire crews worked to extinguish the flames, which were under control by 2.00am.

Luckily, no one was injured.

Detectives have said that initial investigations indicate that the boatyard was accessed and the fire was intentionally lit.

EARLIER @ 8.00 AM | TWO boats have been destroyed after a fire broke out at a Yatala boat company in the early hours of this morning.

The blaze is understood to have started at the business on Stapylton Jacobs Well Road just before 1.20am.

Three Queensland fire crews rushed to the scene and managed to have the flames under control by 2.00am.

Luckily, no one was injured.

It’s not yet known what sparked the blaze.
