FIREFIGHTERS are battling a large grass fire which has broken out in the Gold Coast hinterland.
More than a dozen fire trucks have been dispatched to help fight the blaze behind Oxenford.
It’s burning through thick vegetation on the corner of Wongawallan and Welches Roads at Wongawallan.

Nine crews were off at the scene fighting the fire at 1.40pm, while 11 more trucks were still en route.
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service advises that the fire is posing no threat to property at this time.
Thick smoke, however, is affecting the surrounding area.
As a result, residents are being told to close their windows and doors, and to keep respiratory medications nearby.
Motorists are also being advised to drive through the area with caution.
It’s understood crews were first called to the blaze just before midday.
