Fire crews dealing with ‘large’ gas leak on northern Gold Coast

Fire crews have been called to a gas leak on the northern Gold Coast.

A gas line was ruptured on the corner of Hamersley St and Village Boulevard in Pimpama at around 2.45 on Wednesday afternoon.

A QFES spokesperson confirmed a large amount of gas has been escaping from the line.

Five fire crews are currently on the scene working to make the area safe.

Police are also on hand with traffic being diverted away from the area.

It’s the second large gas leak on the Gold Coast this week after a ruptured main forced part of Broadbeach to be evacuated on Monday.
