Fire crews rush to early morning blaze at Gold Coast home

Fire crews have rushed to a Surfers Paradise home after a blaze broke out in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Three crews were called to the property on Amalfi Drive just before 3.30am.

It took crews less than an hour to extinguish the fire but there are still firefighters there working to clear smoke out of the building.

Queensland Ambulance has confirmed a man in his 40s was treated at the scene for mild smoke inhalation.

They have since been taken to the Gold Coast Private Hospital for further treatment.

It is unclear at this stage how badly the property was damaged or whether fire investigators will return to the scene later in the day to determine the cause.
