Fire fighters working on Burleigh Heads blaze
7.30PM UPDATE: FIVE rural crews are tonight monitoring a large fire which continues to burn at Burleigh Heads.
The blaze first broke out at 1.40pm near Fortitude Crescent.
The fire is contained and there is no threat to surrounding property.
Residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed and keep medications close by for any respiratory conditions

EARLIER: FIRE fighters continue to fight a bushfire which broke out at Burleigh Heads earlier this afternoon.
The fire was first reported at 1.40pm and was burning in the area of Fortitude Crescent.
Flames are being fanned by gusty winds in excess of 30km/h.
A large smoke plume can be seen from various locations across the coast.
At this stage, it’s believed the blaze poses no immediate threat to property with multiple crews on scene doing what they can to prevent flames from spreading.
