Fire fighters called to smokey unit blaze in Southport

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a unit fire in Southport this morning.

Two fire crews, along with police and paramedics were called to a property along Lather Street just before 8.00 am.

Firefighters reported seeing smoke issuing from the unit, before putting on breathing apparatus to gain entry.


They were quick to find the source of the flames and extinguish the blaze.

Luckily, no one was injured in the fire, but paramedics remain on standby at the scene.

It’s not clear exactly what started the blaze.
