Fire fighters rush to two Christmas blazes on the Gold Coast

Emergency services were called to two fires on the Gold Coast last night, but luckily only one person had to be hospitalised.

The first one broke out in a unit along Woodroffe Drive in Main Beach just after 9.30pm.

It’s not clear how the fire started, but it didn’t take long to extinguish.

Paramedics remained on scene while Queensland Fire and Emergency Services battled the blaze, but luckily no one was seriously injured.

Later on, crews were called out to a home in Labrador, after reports a fire had broken out there.

It’s understood a man was cooking in the kitchen just after midnight, when the flames got out of control.

The man – in his 20s – was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Queensland Ambulance and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have been contact for more details.
