Firefighter brave flames to rescue cats from burning unit on the Gold Coast

FIREFIGHTERS have rescued two pet cats from a burning unit on the Gold Coast.

Crews were called to the apartment building on Marine Parade in Southport shortly after midday.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the unit and walked back out with two pet cats.

It’s understood the blaze caused extensive damage to the unit before it was extinguished.

Paramedics were called, however, fortunately, no one was injured and the cats are said to be okay.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
