Firefighters battle Burleigh Heads factory fire

UPDATE: A MAN has been taken to hospital with burns to his face and neck after a large fire ripped through a Burleigh Heads mechanics workshop this afternoon.

Multiple fire crews are battling the blaze which broke out at Burleigh Automotive in Ern Harley Drive shortly after 2.30pm.

It quickly engulfed the entire single story building, with thick black smoke seen rising above the suburb. 


A 37-year-old man suffered serious burns to his face and neck and has been taken to hospital in a stable condition.

It’s believed up to six fire crews are on scene, as are police, paramedics and energex representatives.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said the size of the fire was about 30m by 20m.
