First artists announced for Bluesfest 2017

Bluesfest organisers have today revealed the first round of artists set to hit the stage at the 2017 festival, which will be held in Byron Bay from April 13th to 17th 2017.

The first artist announcement features some Bluesfest debuts from iconic artists that have been many years in the making, Bluesfest exclusive performances, and the return of some of the festivals most requested artists.

The Grammy award-winning Zac Brown Band will return to Bluesfest, two years after they last performed at the festival. Joining them is Patti Smith, who will make her Bluesfest debut. The Lumineers are also set to hit the stage, joining Bluesfest favourite Buddy Guy,  Bonnie Raitt, and Mavis Stapes.

Festival Director Peter Noble OAM said: “We are pleased and honoured to be announcing absolute legends, some of whom are ONLY playing at Bluesfest. In addition we are presenting some of the most leading edge contemporary artists of today, and of course, the return of much admired favourites, including ones from Bluesfest 2016.”

He continued: “It must be hard to believe, but it is very true, that months, and in a few cases, years of work have gone into this artist announcement.”
