For the first time ever, women in Saudi Arabia are now allowed to drive
Women in Saudi Arabia have been granted permission to drive, for the first time ever.
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman issued the decree on Tuesday, stating that women will be given drivers licences if they wanted them.
The change, which will take effect from June next year, was announced on state television, with dozens of people quickly taking to Twitter to praise the decision.
Saudi Arabia was the only country in the world that prevented women from driving.
