Some 20 thousand Queensland schoolies will ditch the Gold Coast today, but the work’s not over for our emergency services with interstate school leavers arriving on the Gold Coast today or tomorrow.
Overnight there were only three schoolies arrested, one of the lowest totals for the first week.
In addition to this eight non-schoolies were arrested for mainly drug-related offences.

Police say while the first week is done, Surfers Paradise will remain extremely busy with schoolies from southern states flocking to the holiday destination.
The majority of interstate schoolies will be over the age of 18 and police say they’re now focusing on licensed venues.
Our Lifesavers have also issued a warning to the arriving teenagers, saying they need to be careful in the surf.
The lifesaving community is issuing a warning to those looking to cool off during Schoolies; alcohol and the ocean are a dangerous combination.
