Flames damage half a nail salon on the Gold Coast

Emergency services have battled a large blaze at a shop in Surfers Paradise overnight.

Fire fighters and police were called to a nail salon on Orchid Avenue, near Cavil Avenue around 2.00am.

Initial reports described the business up in flames, with a large amount of smoke coming out of the property.

Three fire fighter crews attended, were able to gain access, and extinguished the flames within half an hour.

At this stage, the cause of the blaze is unknown to police and fire fighters.

It’s believed the flames spanned about 10 x 5 metres, and caused considerable damage to half of the business.

Police say the building was non-residential, no one had to be evacuated and there was luckily no concern to nearby public.

Fire fighters will return to the scene this morning to investigate.

Police will also look into the cause more closely as well.
