Flying turtle stopped from entering Tasmania

Airlines do warn you that items in the overhead lockers may have moved around during the flight, but no passenger would expect a turtle to land on their foot.

That’s exactly what happened on a Jetstar flight into Hobart on Sunday.

The Murray River short-necked turtle was discovered when it made its dramatic entry and has since been handed over to quarantine officers.

The small turtle species is considered invasive in Tasmania, despite being a common pet on the mainland.
