FOOD and drinks could soon be served on Gold Coast beaches with a council committee giving preliminary approval to the commercialisation of our best asset on Thursday.
Andrew Potts from the Gold Coast Bulletin reports that the council’s Community and Cultural Development Committee voted to approve limited commercial activity on beaches.

Among the activities to be approved include beach equipment hire by surf life saving clubs, delivering of beach equipment hire from nearby businesses, corporate events and delivery of pre-purchased food and drink.
The decision will go before full council next week where all 14 councillors and the mayor will vote on the preliminary approval.
