A Victorian man on holiday for his end of season football trip, remains in a coma at a Gold Coast hospital suspected of taking a dangerous mystery drug.
Riki Stephens and his teammates from the Heathcoate Saints were partying on the weekend when he reportedly took a drug at a pub.
It’s believed he ingested the same synthetic stimulant believed to be behind 16 people being hospitalised over the weekend on the coast.

Those who ingested the mystery drug, nicknamed “flakka” reportedly became aggressive, non-compliant and dangerous.
Mr Stephens and nine of his teammates may have taken the drug in two separate groups.
His parents and girlfriend remain by his bedside in hospital.
Police are still awaiting toxicology tests to formally identify the drug Mr Stephens and the other 16 people ingested.
