Former bikie arrested after fleeing from cops across rooftops

A former bikie wanted on serious charges by Gold Coast Police has been arrested in the Tweed after a dramatic chase over rooftops and through residents’ backyards.

Officers from Taskforce Maxima had been searching for the man over an alleged extortion, robbery and serious assault in Broadbeach Waters earlier this month.

The 28-year-old was spotted by New South Wales Police in Harpullia Court in Kingscliff around 7.15pm last night but the man ran off when approached by officers.

Police say the man jumped fences, ran across rooftops and through the backyards of several homes in Kingscliff before officers lost sight of him.

A major search was launched with Queensland’s Polair assisting.

The man was later located in Lirriope Street, at Casuarina and taken into custody.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police station and charged with an outstanding warrant arrest.

He will front Tweed Heads Local Court today where Queensland Police will apply for his extradition.
