Former Gold Coast man jailed over embassy bomb threats

A JORDANIAN man who once called the Gold Coast home has been jailed for a year after threatening to blow up the Australian embassy in Amman and to kill tourists from this country.

Prosecutors say Ali al-Hasanat sent the threatening message on his Facebook page in January to the embassy.

A picture of a bullet was said to have been attached to the message.

Sources close to the case are saying he is married to an Australian and had made the threats after an argument with her.
