Mr Sciacca fought the disease for around three years before eventually succumbing.
Labor party colleagues have been paying tribute on Wednesday evening, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk taking to Twitter to share her thoughts.
Con Sciacca was a good friend, a mentor, a community champion and a true gentleman. He loved his family & friends and will be deeply missed.

Federal Opposition Leader Bill Shorten also paid tribute to the larger than life former politician saying he was a mentor, friend and a fearless warrior for Labor.
Just last month, Mr Sciacca told The Courier Mail he was nearing the end in his long battle with cancer.
“I’m not dead yet but I could be in three months. If it was six months, I would hug you!’’ he said.
