Former nursing home worker jailed for murder of two elderly residents

A former NSW nursing home worker has been jailed for the murder of two elderly residents.

Garry Davis was today sentenced in the Newcastle Supreme Court to 40 years with a non-parole period of 30 years.

The court heard the 29-year-old killed 83-year-old Gwen Fowler and 80-year-old Ryan Kelly by injecting them with insulin.

He had previously pleaded not guilty to the two murders and not guilty to the attempted murder of a third resident.

The incidents took place at an aged care home in Newcastle in October 2013.
