Former police sergeant charged with stalking offences in Victoria

A police sergeant who recently resigned from Victoria Police has been charged with two counts of stalking.

The alleged incidents took place in Melbourne’s northern suburbs between May and July this year following the officer’s resignation.

In a statement released to media on Thursday, a police spokesperson said the former sergeant resigned from Victoria Police while under investigation for other unrelated matters in May this year.

Detectives from Taskforce Salus raided the former officer’s home in the city’s outer northern suburbs this morning.

He was charged with two counts of stalking.

The man was bailed by police and is due to front Heidelberg Magistrates Court on 13 October.

Taskforce Salus was established to identify and investigate sexual predatory behaviour and serious sexual harassment and discrimination allegations made against current or former Victoria Police employees.
